beach daze and sunburn relief

beach daze

we're lucky girls.  here are shots from our trip to visit a friend at his beach house.

(compiled while grooving to MO's the sea)

these types of posts are almost a diary of my summer.  I keep memories in photos.  always the one to quickly forget details and happenings, pictures take me back.  I'm very visual.  the camera roll on my iphone I tote everywhere has pictures of everything, snap shots of adventures and moments.

(taking a leap)
I'm not crazy adventurous.  I have an ironic affinity for roller coasters, but other than that, I air on the side of caution and safety.  however, I did dive off the pilings.  it's a thrill.  sometimes, doing something a tiny bit reckless reminds you that you can do wild things, you just choose not to.

we nabbed ice cream after our adventure.  what a way to end an incredible day.

sunburn relief.

ok so the beach was heavenly.  the aftermath? not so much.  this little white girl got completely scorched by the sun she adores.  as I write this, I'm three days removed from our adventure and still an awful shade of pink. kids at home: reapply sunscreen. like even more than twice (I coated myself two times and still got burnt)

and if the damage is already done, here are some things I learned from my attempts at easing the sear.

apple cider vinegar
sounds awful but dilute this with cool water and dab on with a rag to sooth the burned areas

aloe
everyone knows aloe is burn relief helper no1.  I keep my bottle in the fridge for a nice chill when applying

lotion
moisturize moisturize moisturize! so important, as you don't want any more lasting damage than what the sun has already caused.

water
drink up. rehydrate your body: it's needed

avoid
hot water, soap, tight clothes (and denim in general), movement. it's all painful.

enjoy your summer,
Samantha
