a safe haven & my beach essentials

let me start off by saying that this is a bit of a filler post.
not because i haven't wanted to blog or have nothing to blog about, i'm simply enjoying my vacation & haven't really wanted to sit down at a computer whilst being in such a beautiful place.
it's beautiful here, friends. absolutely stunning. there are hydrangeas [the pink & blue kind] on every corner, the saltwater saturates every molecule around us & the air hangs with the humidity of mid-july. my bike is my only transportation but i feel free. soaring down backroads, stopping when i want to take pictures of my surroundings, drinking the yummiest italian coffee & drinking up the way it feels to have the sea beside me. i wish you could all be here with me, lazing on the sand with a mango water ice, by the pool with our toes dangling in the ice-y water. there is a feeling that comes with going to sleep to the sound of the waves, the joy that comes from eyes exhausted from hours in the sunshine, and an incandescent happiness that comes when surrounded by the colors & life of this town -  i hope you all get to experience it someday soon.
needless to say, i am happy. so happy.

the location

black & white s o does not do this place justice.

The Essentials

oversized tee - makes for a perfect coverup, looks sporty chic & works as a shield from the sun
sunnies - always should be in the mix. even if you're more of a hat wearer. squinting = headaches & headaches = no fun.
book and/or magazine - it's so easy to get lost in words on the beach. check out some of my picks here
reading the astronauts wives club this week & loving it! [for a magazine, i always opt for vogue.]
sunscreen - stay protected, kids. [if you're more prone to breakouts, try an oil-free face sunscreen...i like neutrogena's
random - headphones, gum, pens, money
optional: hat - more for looks than wear. i prefer to keep my hair in the sun for highlighting purposes, but hats help with eliminating the possibility of a sunglass tan. which i have gotten before. fyi: they stink.
